About CounPass

CounPass is a free practice platform for counseling licensure exams. We help graduate students and counselors-in-training prepare for the National Counselor Examination (NCE), the Counselor Preparation Comprehensive Examination (CPCE), and the National Clinical Mental Health Counseling Examination (NCMHCE).

Why CounPass exists

Counseling licensure exams cover a wide body of material: human growth and development, counseling theories, group work, assessment, research, ethics, and clinical decision-making. Most candidates study from dense textbooks and expensive prep courses. CounPass takes a different approach. We turn the exam content areas into focused practice questions with clear explanations, so you learn by testing yourself and understanding why each answer is correct.

Practice testing is one of the most effective study methods supported by cognitive science. Retrieving information from memory strengthens retention far more than re-reading notes. CounPass is built around that principle.

What we cover

CounPass aligns its content with the published structure of each exam.

The NCE is built around the eight CACREP content areas and the five work behavior domains used by the National Board for Certified Counselors. The CPCE covers the same eight core knowledge areas and is used by many counseling programs as an exit or comprehensive examination. The NCMHCE uses clinical simulations that assess your ability to gather information, diagnose, and plan treatment in realistic case scenarios.

Our questions are written to reflect the knowledge and reasoning each exam tests, with explanations that connect the answer back to the underlying concept.

Who runs CounPass

CounPass is operated by AIPAMED LLC. The platform is built and maintained by a team with backgrounds in clinical practice, counseling education, and health technology. Content is reviewed for accuracy against current exam blueprints and counseling standards.

We are an independent study resource. CounPass is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC), the Center for Credentialing & Education (CCE), CACREP, or any state licensing board. NCE, CPCE, and NCMHCE are examinations administered by their respective organizations. We reference these exams only to describe what our practice content prepares you for.
